THEY FUCKED AGAINST THE PINK WARM BELLY OF A DYING SUN is a project featuring the music of composer/producer Marc Jacobs, also known as Prairie, and the writing and voice of spoken word artist/poet Lukasz Polowczyk, also known as AINT ABOUT ME. The work explores the grotesque, awe-inspiring beauty inadvertently lodged inside the real and mediated nightmares of our times. It’s an attempt to derive emotional and aesthetic pleasure from witnessing the world as we know it unraveling, all the while knowing that this pursuit/posture is just a failed attempt to cope with an overwhelming reality.

"Glacier Gospel" is the first release from a self-titled 6-track album. The piece describes the ghosts of dead civilians traveling to a post-glacial lake to cleanse themselves before they can finally move on.

"There are so many people around me, well-read, open-minded people, who have either stopped reading the news or decided to consume it in very small, rationed doses. It’s too much! There is only so much horror and doomsday that you can take. And it’s not just the content that has this effect on them, it’s the feeling of being powerless – not being able to
truly influence what’s going on. I didn’t decide to write a whole album about how dark the world is; matter of fact, I didn’t really decide anything. We didn’t talk about it with Prairie, either. I was triggered by his rough cinematic soundscapes, and this is what came out. I write in a stream of consciousness, so whatever is consuming my mind-body at any particular time, it comes out in my work, or is refracted by it. I am distraught by what’s going on. I suppose my unconscious is just figuring out ways to
cope. Like anybody else out there. I mean, you can’t look into the sun directly, right?" – Lukasz Polowczyk
